Deepti George has a proven 14-year track record in financial system-related public policy research and advocacy in India and is a recognized thought leader on financial consumer protection in India and other emerging markets. Her key contributions to shaping regulatory and policy outcomes include serving as writing secretariat for the SEBI Working Group on the Social Stock Exchange (2020) and the RBI Committee on Comprehensive Financial Services for Low-Income Households and Small Businesses (2014), both of which have had a significant impact on the direction of India’s financial system. She was invited to present to the honorable Finance Minister as part of the Finance Ministry's pre-budget consultation with the financial sector and capital markets group (2025). She was also invited by the RBI to talk about regulatory impact assessments to representatives of financial sector regulators.

Deepti was the convenor of the Civil20 Special Committee on Financial Issues during India’s G20 Presidency (2023) and currently serves on the SEBI Investor Survey Advisory Committee. She is widely acknowledged for her leadership in civil society and her international influence. Since 2021, she has been an active member of CGAP’s Consultative Group on Consumer Protection, a 25-member expert group that drives the global consumer protection agenda. In 2024, she was one of three Indians on the 9-member panel for Online Dispute Resolution (ODR) DIALogues for the Digital Impact Alliance (a partner of the UN Foundation).

Deepti has held multiple leadership roles at the think tank, Dvara Research, where she has been responsible for formulating and executing organizational strategy, developing and maintaining high-performing teams, navigating organizational change, and cultivating key stakeholder relationships. She played a critical role in securing two of the three major funding rounds from the Gates Foundation and managing post-fundraise relationships (worth over INR 32 crore) with funders such as Gates Foundation, Omidyar Network, Northern Arc Capital, and CGAP/World Bank. Deepti holds a post graduate diploma in business management (finance) from IFMR (2008) and completed a certificate program in regulatory analysis & decision making from Carey Law School, University of Pennsylvania (2021).
